Seahawks Originally Planned to Kneel During Anthem; Decided to go PC Route

Seattle Seahawks v Oakland Raiders

The Seattle Seahawks plan to stand together with their arms interlocked in a pregame demonstration of unity prior to Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.  But according to reports, that wasn’t the original plan.

The initial plan was to show support for San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and respect the Anthem at the same time by kneeling together with their hands over their heart.

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has been the most outspoken member about this and decided they wouldn’t do it if all players weren’t on board with the idea.

On Saturday, Baldwin narrated their plans in a video released on Twitter:

“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds and as a team we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity. We honor those who have fought for the freedom we cherish and we stand to ensure the riches of freedom and the security of justice for all people. Progress can and will be made, only if we stand together.”
