Braves Shortstop Dansby Swanson Hit in Nuts by Errant Warmup Throw (Video)
How bad is the Braves season? Even when they win, they still find little ways to lose.
Take Monday’s game against the Marlins. The Braves jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings. Things were going great! However, right before the top of the fourth, while Braves pitcher Ryan Weber was warming up after coming into the game for the injured Mike Foltynewicz, an errant throw back to the mound from catcher Tyler Flowers sailed over Weber’s outstretched glove and hit shortstop Dansby Swanson right in the junk as he stood chatting with his fellow infielders.
Take a look:
As you can see at the end of the video, Swanson tried hard to walk it off. But it takes a while to get over a baseball to the nuts, and the game had to get started again. So he had to come out.
Hilariously, the Braves listed the official reason for Swanson’s exit as a “right groin contusion.” But we all know that wasn’t no groin.
After the game the Braves elected not to make Swanson available to the media. But the rookie was seen smiling and laughing while his teammates had some fun at his expense. So it’s safe to say he’ll probably be okay.
