Patriots Work Out Fullback Glenn Gronkowski, Because You Can Never Have Too Many Gronks
You know the old saying, “two heads are better than one”? Well apparently the New England Patriots feel the same way about Gronks.
On Monday, the Pats worked out eight free agents at Gillette Stadium, and among them was fullback Glenn Gronkowski, brother of superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski. Glenn had been with the Buffalo Bills throughout the preseason after going undrafted out of Kansas State last spring. However, he was released by the Bills following their Week 1 loss to the Ravens.
This is not the first time the Pats have had two Gronks on the roster. Back in 2011 they had Rob’s older brother and fellow tight end Dan Gronkowski on the roster for five weeks.
There’s no word yet as to whether the Pats intend to sign Glenn beyond this week. In his final year at K-State the 23-year-old recorded five receptions and ran the ball 11 times, recording two touchdowns. And that’s nice. But he also threw a touchdown pass to fellow fullback Winston Dimel, which is probably the real reason Bill Belichick is interested. Don’t be surprised if The Hoodie brings in Gronk Jr. just to run a few trick plays while Jimmy Garrapolo is banged up and Tom Brady is serving the last two games of his suspension.
Can you even imagine? One Gronk throwing a touchdown pass to another Gronk? The internet would just die right there on the spot.
