Broncos LB Brandon Marshall Wonders Why His Critics Are Quiet Now After Recent Cop Involved Shootings
Browns QB Josh McCown Gives Inspirational Answer When Asked Why He Stayed in Game Despite Injury (Video)
We here on the internet like to make fun of the Cleveland Browns and their neverending quarterback woes. The team has used 25 different starting quarterbacks since 1999, and the vast majority of them have been comically terrible.
However, there’s nothing comical or terrible about Josh McCown. In 2015 McCown had the best season by a Browns quarterback in a generation, earning a QB rating of 93.3 while throwing for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just four interceptions in eight starts. The Browns should have just named him their starting QB for 2016, but instead they went out and signed Robert Griffin III. Because they’re the Browns.
Of course, as you probably know, the RGIII era in Cleveland lasted less than one game. So in week two the Browns went back to Josh McCown.
Unfortunately, he was not able to deliver an actual victory over the Ravens. However, his gritty performance and remarks after the game certainly earned him a moral victory.
You see, McCown suffered a shoulder injury during the game. But he didn’t want to let his team down, so he toughed it out and stayed in the game.
Afterward, while meeting with the media, McCown spoke some powerful words his teammates won’t soon forget. Take a look:
You can (and should!) mock the Browns all you want, but leave Josh McCown alone. This guy is the real deal.
