Josh Norman Blasts NFL For Trying To Make ‘Barbaric Sport’ PG-Rated All While Selling Beer

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman was fined $10,000 for an interception celebration in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns, when he shot a bow & arrow.

According to the NFL, Norman’s celebration falls into the category of violent on-field gestures that are banned by the league.  But on Thursday, Norman blasted the NFL on 106.7 The Fan for their attempt to make a barbaric sport PG-rated, all while selling beer ads while kids are watching.

“I think that [if] anything, the eyes have been magnified more so for my contract,” he said. “I think that has been magnified into what we do and how we do it, and the NFL’s looking more into us and how we do things on a football field.”

“Hey! They took my darned bow and arrow away from me!” Norman shouted. “And a couple guys have been doing it for years! And, now all of a sudden I do it, can’t do it no more. I’m trying to understand that one, still. It’s just been a lot of other things that have been coming up to where, you know, we just got to overcome the adversity that strike us and be better, and we will be, and continue to get Ws. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. Win.”

“I think we have a double standard as a league,” Norman said. “We say want to be PG [rated] or whatever television show we showing, but at the same time we’re selling beer on TV shows when kids [are] watching. So it’s kind of like, well dang, if that’s the case and that’s good, why can’t we have fun within the game?

“I mean it’s a barbaric sport. So if you want to be a double standard, like, c’mon, man. Let’s be realistic here. You want to have things the way you want it, but then again, when it comes to us, we can’t have the things we want. It don’t even make any sense.”

Before the game against the Baltimore Ravens last week, Norman was spotted on camera stating that the Bow & Arrow celebration was coming back when they play the Eagles.
