A father’s worst nightmare was reported as the 15-year-old daughter of U.S. Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay, Trinity, was tragically shot and killed in a restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky early Sunday morning.

Around 4:00am, Trinity was shot in the neck while at a restaurant when she was caught in the crossfire of bullets as two groups of people were firing at each other.

“Trinity Gay, 15, a rising star on the track team at Lafayette High School, and the daughter of Lexington native and Olympian Tyson Gay has died after a shooting at a Lexington restaurant.

The Fayette County Coroner says that Trinity Gay died from her injuries just before 5 a.m. Sunday.

Lexington police say they responded to a call of shots fired at the Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway just before 4 a.m.

Police say people in two cars exchanged gunfire, then drove away.

Officials say Gay was taken to UK Hospital with a gunshot wound to her neck. Police say she was not in either car.

Officers say they have a description of the vehicles involved as a dark colored sports car and a gray Dodge Charger.

Police do have two people as persons of interest in the case they are questioning because their car matched the description of of the Charger.

They are still looking for the other vehicle that was involved.”

On Monday, arrests had been made in the case and it involved a father and son duo.

A father and his son have been arrested in connection with the death of Tyson Gay‘s 15-year-old daughter … after officials say they were in a shootout with a 21-year-old man when a stray bullet struck the young girl.

The father, son duo is  38-year-old Chazerae Taylor and his 19-year-old son D’Markeo — who cops say were in a shootout with 21-year-old D’Vonta Middlebrooks.

The Taylors have been arrested and charged with wanton endangerment. Middlebrooks was hit with the same charge PLUS a weapons charge.”
