Giants Coach Bob McAdoo Used a ‘Step Brothers’ Scene to Motivate His Team (Video)

If you wanted a clear sign that Tom Coughlin isn’t in charge of the Giants anymore, this piece of info should confirm that fact. Prior to Sunday’s game, the Giants had experienced a three-game slide, and coach Bob McAdoo wanted his team to know that other squads would be coming in and trying to bully them.

What they did with those antagonists was up to them.

Sure, there was some laughter when the coaching staff played a scene from the Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy Step Brothers, in which the brothers are bullied by little kids and one is forced to lick dog poop…but everyone has their own style of coaching, I guess.

Victor Cruz was on board with the unorthodox move, saying the following:

“I kinda got that, you gotta just relax. At the end of the day, it’s just a game, we just gotta go out there and play, and play it at a high level, but it’s just a game. We just gotta relax and play the game, and have a little fun, and realize that it’s football, but we gotta smile at the same time, you know?”

Here’s the scene:

It worked. The Giants beat Baltimore 27-23.
