Social Media Lashes Out at Wisconsin For Not Removing Fan With Obama Mask & Noose
On Saturday, while the #7 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers were in a battle with the #11 ranked Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium, a fan took a picture of an idiot in the stands wearing an President Obama mask with a noose around the neck.

While many believed the fan would eventually be removed from the stadium, that wasn’t the case as UW-Madison Police stated many times on Twitter:
@JulieDiCaro Again, we don’t support the message that they’re trying to convey. Guest Services asked them to remove the noose and they did.

Then the Wisconsin Badgers released a statement and made it much worse:

@UWBadgers This is a truly repugnant statement and a wantonly ignorant misunderstanding of free speech.

You failed crisis comm 101, @UWBadgers. Get someone from your mass comm dept. to your office 1st thing Monday to show you how it’s done.

@UWBadgers so remove the costume let the person stay that’s still condoning their actions should remove the person
— Brenda (@Sadiesniece) October 30, 2016
@UWBadgers Just to be clear, threatening the president is a Class E felony.
— Peter Nygaard (@RetepAdam) October 30, 2016
@UWBadgers Asking them to remove it and allowing them to stay, is like a slap on the wrist. Where’s the follow through? Discipline?
— Marisa Tigney (@LovelymarisaT) October 30, 2016
@UWBadgers That piece of sh*t should have been escorted out.

@UWBadgers This is a pathetic response and deeply shameful to UW alumni everywhere.

@UWBadgers you mean hate speech? Very disappointing, this is not the beginning or the end of this issue. Take responsibility please.

@UWBadgers you may not care, but Secret Service will. As a lawyer and UW J-School grad, shocked by this incident & response. Shame on you.

@UWBadgers You are not promoting a POSITIVE campus environment – YOU ARE ENCOURAGING RACISM, NON-INCLUSION & HATE!
