Police in the Dominican Republic have questioned eight Texas Rangers prospects involved in the sexual assault of an underage teammate.

The incident took place at the Rangers training complex in the Dominican at the end of October. According to sources who spoke to Yahoo Sports, video of the assault was captured and posted to Snapchat. It shows at least four players holding a teammate down on a bed and masturbating him as part of some sort of hazing ritual.

Yahoo reports that all of the men in the video are seen laughing, including the alleged victim. But that doesn’t matter, as the kid being held down was under 18.

This assault was one of a number of hazing incidents involving Venezuelan and Colombian players, some of whom were under the age of 18. At least one player had his head shaved, another was forced to strip, and police are investigating one other report of forced masturbation.

At this time no charges have been filed yet. However, it is believe that Dominican prosecutors intend to charge the four players who held down their underage teammate. Those players include top catching prospect Yohel Pozo, as well as the brother of Rangers second basemen Rougned Odor, who for some reason is also named Rougned Odor. Both of them are 19 years old.

The Rangers reported the incident immediately after they heard about it from a staff member in the Dominican Republic, who had in turn heard about it from a player who was not involved.

“The Texas Rangers became aware of an incident at our Academy in the Dominican Republic and we acted promptly to open an investigation,” reads the official statement given to Yahoo Sports. “We have reported the incident and are cooperating fully with Major League Baseball and the authorities in the Dominican Republic. With this being an ongoing investigation, we will have no further comment at this time.”

This is a pretty ugly story. Stay tuned.
