Chiefs Holder Dustin Colquitt Has Priceless Reaction to Game-Winning Field Goal (Video + PIC)
The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos came just inches away from producing the third tie of the 2016 NFL season on Sunday night. In fact, Cairo Santos‘s last-second field goal attempt was so close to missing, not even holder Dustin Colquitt thought it was good.
The Chiefs only forced overtime thanks to a game-trying drive in the final three minutes of regulation. Both teams then converted their first two field goals in overtime before Broncos kicker Brandon McManus missed a 62-yarder with 1:01 left on the clock. That gave the Chiefs possession at the Denver 48, and they proceeded to advance the ball to the Denver 16, setting up a 34-yard field goal attempt for Santos with five seconds left on the clock.
That kick? It clanked hard off the left upright, but ultimately went through, giving the Chiefs a huge win.
Take a look:
Hilariously, Chiefs holder Dustin Colquitt did not immediately realize the kick was good. Apparently he heard the ball hit the post and just assumed Santos had missed:

Luckily, Santos was not bothered by Colquitt’s lack of faith. In fact, he seemed pretty amused by his holder’s reaction to what was very nearly an epic fail:
