College Hoops Player Dribbles Out the Clock, Doesn’t Realize His Team Is Trailing by One Point (Video)
Well this is embarrassing. I don’t even want to mention this kid’s name—but I will, because the SEO gods demand it. On Monday night, Bryant Bulldogs freshman Ikenna Ndugba dribbled out the clock against the Brown Bears under the mistaken impression that his team was winning. However, they were not winning. They were losing by one point. And thanks to Ndubga’s confusion, the Bulldogs were not able to attempt a dramatic buzzer-beater.
In Ndugba’s defense, the last 15 seconds of the game were pretty wild. Brown was up 89-87 when Bryant’s Nisre Zouzoua nailed a high-arching three-pointer with just over 11 seconds left on the clock. For those of you who also struggle with arithmetic, that put Bryant up 90-89. However, Brown immediately inbounded the ball to Tavon Blackmon, who brought the ball all the way down the court himself and converted a layup with 3.8 seconds left. That put Brown up 91-90.
Unfortunately, Ndugba was not able to keep track of the lead changed amidst all the commotion, and there was not enough time to look up at the scoreboard. So when he got the ball with 3.8 seconds left, he did not look to heave it downcourt to a teammate. Instead he meandered to center court and threw the ball up in the air.
Then—and this is the saddest part—he tried to high-five a very confused teammate, thinking they had won.

Yep, that’s going to sting for a while.
Let this be a lesson to all you kids out there to always keep track of the score.
