Russian Hockey Player’s Brutal Attack on Ref Captured With GoPro (Video)

In a Russian amateur league, a referee’s mounted GoPro camera caught this nasty sight after the ref, Nikita Tikhonov, called a ten-minute penalty on a player. One of his teammates wasn’t on board with the call, so after going back and forth with no resolution, he does what angry crazy people do—he turned to violence.

I mean, that image says it all, but we’ve got the whole crazy video as well:

You can see that after swinging at his head with a stick, the attacker threw a punch. He wasn’t going down easy.

I’m not sure what happens to the offending party here. Does he go to jail for threatening someone? Get kicked out of the league? I guess we’ll find out.

But one thing’s for certain: That ref deserves hazard pay for having to contend with these monsters. Whatever he’s earning can’t be nearly enough.
