Panthers Bench Cam Newton For First Play of SNF, And It Cost Them (Video)
Internet Reacts to Cam Newton Being Benched For Dress Code Violation (Tweets)
The Carolina Panthers are getting throttled on Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks. And it all started when the team decided to send Derek Anderson out for their first offensive snap.
Their reason for benching Newton for D.A. on the opening play was said to be because of a dress code violation, and the result was an interception that set the Seahawks up for the first score of the game—a Steven Hauschka 23-yard field-goal.
Panthers fans and many others across the Twitterverse were not too happy about Ron Rivera’s decision. Here are some of the best reactions:

I wasn’t watching. Did Cam Newton show a nipple or something?

@ashstro Well not playing him for a whole play will surely fix that

Cam Newton didn’t start because he didn’t wear a tie, Ron Rivera must’ve been high.

Ron Rivera had a pretty strong case to suspend Cam Newton indefinitely if he wanted. pic.twitter.com/us63T01nve
