After Multiple Tripping Incidents, Coach K Says Grayson Allen Is No Longer Team Captain
It took a third tripping incident by Duke Blue Devils G Grayson Allen against Elon Phoenix earlier this month for Coach K to finally take action against his controversial player and suspend him indefinitely.
He did it against Louisville last season in February, then he did it again later in the month against Florida State.
After the Duke Blue Devils lost their ACC opener on Saturday, Coach K had this to say:
“Right now, I don’t want to talk about Grayson,” Krzyzewski said. “He was part of the loss today by not being there and we’ve also — instead of tri-captains, we’ve eliminated him from being a captain of the team.”
“We’ve played without a lot of people throughout the year. You’d rather have your full complement of players,” Krzyzewski said. “That’s not an excuse. He should be on the floor if he does the right things, and he didn’t do the right thing, so he wasn’t on the floor. That’s the way it is.”
The nation’s No. 5 team by lost by 14 points on Saturday to Virginia Tech.
