Knicks Tweet Very Poorly Timed Amtrak Promotion Featuring Derrick Rose (Pic)
The New York Knicks ran a very poorly timed promo featuring Derrick Rose on Tuesday.
The day before, as you probably heard, Rose went AWOL before the Knicks’ loss to the Pelicans. Apparently he had some sort of family emergency involving his mom back in Chicago, but did not tell anybody in the organization where he was. And when Knicks beat reporters started reporting his absence, Twitter kind of went nuts.
On Tuesday, the Knicks announced that they were fining Rose for his unexplained absence, which was perfectly understandable since he didn’t even bother to send so much as a text. However, just six minutes prior to making that announcement, the Knicks tweeted out an Amtrak promotion featuring a photo of Derrick Rose getting on a train—you know, like he was getting the hell out of New York.
Obviously, the promo had probably been in the works for weeks if not months, long before Rose went AWOL on Monday. And the tweet was deleted in a matter of minutes. However, somebody in the organization really should have caught this before it went live.
