We’ll Never See McGregor-Mayweather in Real Life, But Here It Is in “Punch-Out” (Video)

There has been a lot of talk over the past year about UFC superstar Conor McGregor fighting retired boxing superstar/convicted wife-beater Floyd Mayweather. And it’s a lot of fun to think about. But obviously it’s never going to happen.

This is not an “alternative fact.” There is no way McGregor could beat Floyd at boxing, and there is no way Floyd could beat McGregor at MMA. So there would be no point for them to fight.

Yes, UFC president Dana White offered Mayweather $25 million to fight McGregor. But that’s just part of the act. Everyone stands to benefit from the free publicity generated by Floyd and Conor talking trash. Nobody stands to benefit from the two of them actually getting in the ring.

Don’t be sad, though. While we’ll never see McGregor-Mayweather in real life, we’ll always have this amazing McGregor-Mayweather simulation in the style of Punch-Out (née Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out), the classic NES game. It comes to us from YouTuber Adam Arnali, a self-described filmmaker whose “mission” is to merge gaming with film. And it is really, really good.

Take a look:

“Oh my God!! Floyd’s dead…and so is BOXING.”

It’s funny because it’s true!

Sorry Floyd.
