Doc Rivers Won’t Rule Out Trading His Son Austin in Potential Trade
With the New York Knicks currently in shambles, Knicks president Phil Jackson is doing everything in his power to trade star Carmelo Anthony. And the Los Angeles Clippers seem to be the most interested team out there.
Clippers head coach Doc Rivers will do just about anything to get another star player, even if that means trading family members in the process.
While Doc has stated he would love to keep his roster intact, he wouldn’t necessarily rule out trading his own son, Austin Rivers.
“We’re going to do whatever it takes,” Rivers told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols. “Listen, I would trade anyone. You would have to be willing to do that, so – and he would be one of them, and any of them would be one. But I don’t want to trade any of our guys. I like our team. Having said that, if you think you can make your team better. That’s my job.”
Rivers didn’t confirm reports of the Clippers being possible trade partners with the New York Knicks, but did state other teams have contacted them.
“Well, we’re not talking to anyone, people are talking to us – I guess I can say that,” Rivers said. “Listen, we love our team. We believe we are good enough right now. Having said that, my job is to look at this team and see if we can get better. And if we can, we’ll do it.”
