The Houston Rockets Are Reportedly Interested in Trading For Serge Ibaka
It was reported last month that after the Orlando Magic completed a draft day trade to acquire Serge Ibaka from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the rights to Domantis Sabonis, they were looking to unload him.
One week later and it seems the Magic have an interested trade partner, as the Houston Rockets reportedly are interested in reuniting Serge Ibaka with James Harden, according to ESPN’s Calvin Watkins.
James Harden, on the other hand, seems to like his core group as is.
“I love what we have, love it,” leading scorer MVP candidate James Harden said Wednesday. “From top to bottom, we have depth. You can throw any guy in there and they know their role, that’s important. I’m going to ride with these guys for sure.”
Though Ibaka is not nearly the defensive presence he once was on the Oklahoma City Thunder, he can still provide much needed rim protection that Houston sorely needs after Dwight Howard left in the offseason.
The Rockets are dead last in points-in-the-paint allowed, giving up 48.1 points per contest out of 108.2 total points.
The trade deadline is February 23rd.
