Joe Montana: ‘I Won’t Call Tom Brady Greatest Ever, You Can’t Compare Eras’ (Video)
When you hear “the greatest QB of all-time,” you will more than likely hear either Tom Brady or Joe Montana’s name come up first.
Before Brady even won his 5th ring, most were looking at him as the greatest at his position already. And some believe he solidified that by defeating the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51, recording an NFL-record 5th ring as a QB.
Despite all of Brady’s success, his career has been marred with controversy after controversy, including this past season, when he was suspended for his roll in the deflategate scandal. For those reasons alone, many refuse to crown him the king.
TMZ recently caught up with Joe Montana and asked him if Brady was the best ever. This is what he said:
“I think that it’s really hard to put anyone in that bucket,” Montana said in an appearance on the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family,” via TMZ. “Even before he got five – you look back to some of the guys some people don’t even know, Sammy Baugh or Otto Graham, I can’t remember which one, but one of them won like seven or nine championships and so far ahead of their time. It’s so hard to compare guys from then to now, how they would compare here and how we would compare back then.”
