Mark Cuban Says Westbrook Doesn’t Belong Anywhere in The MVP Conversation

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has made it clear in the past that he’s not really a fan of OKC Thunder star Russell Westbrook. Just before the Mavs were set to face off against the Thunder on Sunday, he was asked about the MVP race and he didn’t include Westbrook in it.

Mark Cuban taking shots at Westbrook dates back to last season when Kevin Durant was still a member of the OKC Thunder.

Mark Cuban says Kevin Durant is the Thunder’s only superstar. What about Russell Westbrook? “He’s an All-Star but not a superstar.”

This past December, even with Westbrook averaging a triple-double, Mark Cuban still doesn’t see Westbrook as a superstar because he failed to get an average OKC team to the playoffs when Durant was hurt.

He’s putting up superstar numbers. That’s for damn sure,” Cuban said of Westbrook, who entered Friday night’s game again the? Houston Rockets?averaging 31.0 points, 11.3 assists and 10.9 rebounds per game. “I’m not taking anything away from what he’s been able to accomplish, but I’m not going to change my definition. He’s putting superstar numbers. You can’t deny that.”

“That’s no disrespect to Russell,” Cuban said. “He’s been a beast. Few have done what he’s done, but I’ll stick by my definition. I’m not saying that he’s not going to prove me wrong and that he [won’t be] a superstar by the end of the year. That’s fine, but I’ll stick by my definition.”
