Polite Hockey Players Give Us the Most Courteous Hockey Fight Ever (Video)
San Jose Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon was mic’d up for Saturday night’s game against the Nashville Predators. About five minutes into the second period Dillon went toe-to-toe with Nashville’s Austin Watson, and the audio recorded during and after is absolutely amazing.
Why? It’s not for the cursing or the trash talk. There were no f-bombs or homophobic slurs. Nobody said anything about anybody’s sister. What makes the audio amazing is that the guys were so polite.
The fight starts after Dillon asks Watson if he wants to go, and it ends with Dillon asking “you done bud?” and Watson saying “atta boy good job.”
Seriously. He said atta boy to the guy he just spent 30 seconds trying to punch in the face.
The best part came afterwards in the penalty box, though. Dillon and Watson joke about how out of shape they are, and how they need to do more cardio in the offseason. Then, as they’re leaving the box to return to the game, they wish each other good luck the rest of the season.
