“I got two beautiful kids, beautiful wife and family that I’m going to continue to take care of,” Rice said.
Former Ravens RB Ray Rice: Reason I’m Not In The NFL ‘Ain’t Because I’m a Bad Football Player’
Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice hasn’t touched an NFL field since being released from the team in 2013, shortly before the video of him punching his then-fiancee emerged online and sent shock waves through social media.
Now 30 years old, Ray Rice is once again speaking out about his desire to return to the game that he loves, but he hasn’t generated any interest from a single NFL team.
“The reason why I’m not playing football, you do the dots,” Rice said before a recent charity basketball game, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “It ain’t because I’m a bad football player. That’s just keeping it real. I’m never giving up and never giving in.”
Most would assume it was the video that ended his career and that may very well be the case, but during his last year, Rice had a career-worst 3.1 yards per carry average as he looked really slow, injured, and potentially washed-up.
“I can still play football,” Rice insisted. “I’m never going to give up. You’re never going to hear me say I gave up.”
