REPORT: LaVar Ball Use To Be A ‘Cocky Nobody’ On The New York Jets
Over the past few weeks, LaVar Ball has been literally on every single network, talking recklessly about how his kids are better than every NBA player. It got that much more ridiculous when he stated he could beat Michael Jordan 1-on-1. Then somebody unearthed footage of him playing at a neighborhood center and he was absolutely terrible at both ends of the floor.
The exposing of LaVar Ball continued on Monday when somebody found out he failed to make it onto the New York Jets roster back in 1994. Ball was 25-years-old and signed to play defensive end.
Boomer Esiason, the Jets’ quarterback from 1993 to 1995, said he has “no recollection” of Ball, however, former LB Marvin Jones does:
“I remember LaVar Ball very well, he was a very athletic guy and raw. I remember him very well because he played only one year of college football. I remember a very confident guy and, yes, he voiced his opinion and was cocky, but overall seemed like a great guy.”
LaVar also had a short stint on the Carolina Panthers practice squad for about two months during their 1995 inaugural season from September to November.
Just like Boomer, none of the players on that squad had any idea he was on the team either.
“I had no idea! Are you sure LaVar Ball isn’t making this up?” former Panthers WR Mark Carrier told Mark Fowler of Charlotte Observer.
