REPORT: If Tony Romo Retires, CBS Wants Him to Take Over for Phil Simms (TWEET)
You might feel bad for Tony Romo’s unceremonious exit from the Cowboys, but don’t shed too many tears. The man has options. For the right price (still a high one, no doubt) he could make for an overqualified backup for any number of teams.
According to Ian Rappaport, he also has a career in broadcasting awaiting him, should he decide to hang up the cleats.
One tidbit on #Cowboys QB Tony Romo: CBS is eyeing him as a potential replacement for Phil Simms in the booth. A big-time opportunity looms.

Of course, Phil Simms hasn’t weight in on this, but he’s been doing it for 20 years, and not particularly well. It seems like Romo’s congeniality, well-spoken presence, and energy would be a welcome addition to the broadcasting booth. But I’m sure he’ll try to find a team, knowing his opportunity in the broadcast booth will always await him.
