Throw out everything you’ve ever been taught about the laws of physics.

During Thursday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals , reliever Brett Cecil got pinch hitter Matt Szczur to swing at a pinch in the dirt, and things got a little weird shortly after. Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina searched frantically for the ball to throw the runner out, but he had no earthly idea where it was.

Apparently, the pitch bounced off the ground so hard it put a dent in Molina’s chest protector, causing the ball to stick.
