Michael Jordan Sent Roy Williams the Perfect Text After the Tar Heels Won the National Championship (Video)
Michael Jordan has accomplished pretty much everything there is to accomplish in the game of basketball. He won six NBA championships. He won five MVPs. Now he owns his own team and a billion-dollar sneaker brand.
Even after all that, though, Jordan still maintains ties with his alma mater, North Carolina. So he was pretty happy this week when the Tar Heels defeated Gonzaga to win their sixth National Championship. And according to North Carolina coach Roy Williams, Jordan sent him an A+ congratulatory text afterward.
Speaking at a championship rally this week, Williams read Jordan’s text straight from his phone.
“I’m so happy for you and the team. You raised the ceiling to the roof tonight. Congrats, didn’t want to bring you bad luck tonight, but I’m so happy for you. Love you, my man.”
For those who don’t get why that’s so funny, last month Joran gave a pep talk during halftime of a Tar Heels game and said “the ceiling is the roof.” Presumably he meant to say the sky is the ceiling and just misspoke. But Twitter absolutely roasted him for it.
Now Jordan’s flub is the official slogan of the Tar Heels’ 2017 National Championship team.

And yes, Roy Williams was serious when said there was going to be a shirt that says “Ceiling. Roof. Champions.”
“The Ceiling is the Roof!”
Ceiling. Roof. Champion.

Leave it to Michael Jordan to take an embarrassing public speaking gaffe and turn it into a t-shirt that makes him another million dollars.
