Blazers SF Mo Harkless Made Half A Million Dollars By Refusing to Shoot 3-Pointers

by: Darrelle Lincoln On  Friday, April 14, 2017

Portland Trail Blazers v Phoenix Suns

Portland Trail Blazers forward Maurice Harkless attempted the most 3-pointers he has ever had this past season with 194. That number could have easily been well over 200 if not for a contract bonus that hung over his head for the last few games of the season.

Harkless’ contract incentive stated he would receive a $500,000 bonus if he finished the season shooting above 35 percent from 3-point range. There were only six games all season where he did not attempt a 3-pointer.

With a few games to go, Harkless was at 35.1% for the season and he didn’t attempt a single 3-pointer in Wednesday night’s game and shot only one in the last four games of the season.

He even joked about it on Instagram after Wednesday night’s game.

I guess dinners on me tonight ahaha

After you add that $500,000 to his $8.9 million base salary, Harkless was paid fairly well this past season.
