Calgary Flames v San Jose Sharks

Good lord. How tough are ya?

San Jose Sharks head coach Pete DeBoer revealed Joe Thornton apparently played in four playoff games against the Edmonton Oilers while in extreme pain.

How much pain? He played with tears in his MCL and ACL.

“I’ve never seen a guy play with a torn MCL and ACL,” DeBoer said. “It’s a courageous effort as I’ve ever seen.”

Thornton, who’s scheduled to see a doctor today and undergo surgery, missed the first 2-games of the series after suffering the injuries on April 2nd, but managed to record two assists while seeing almost 19 minutes of ice time per game.
