Following The People vs. O.J. Simpson, true crime sagas have become all the rage on television, and it’s looking like that trend is finding its way to the literary world as well. Bestselling author James Patterson is currently getting going on writing up the saga of the Aaron Hernandez murders and trials for an upcoming untitled book.

Patterson’s publisher says we can expect the book in early 2018, and though no specifics were given regarding an adaptation, it’s a safe bet that someone will quickly snatch up the rights to the story for another mini-series or anthology installment.

Meanwhile, Patterson’s putting together a shorter collection of true crime stories for Investigation Discovery and in print form next month, but it doesn’t sound as though the Hernandez work will be included in that batch.
