The San Francisco 49ers pulled off one of the best draft day trades of all time on Thursday. Unfortunately, trades that are great for one team are often terrible for another team. And in this particular case, the 49ers’ amazing trade was terrible for the Chicago Bears.

It all started after the Cleveland Browns did something right for once and selected former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett with the no. 1 overall pick. The Bears decided after that they just had to move up from the no. 3 pick to the no. 2 pick to get former North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky. So they gave their no. 3 pick, a 3rd round pick, a 4th round pick, and a 3rd round pick in 2017 to the 49ers in exchange for the no. 2 pick.

If you’re keeping score at home, that four picks just to move up one spot.

One. Spot.

The thing is, the Bears could have had Trubisy with the third pick. According to the San Jose Mercury News, the 49ers were always planning to take former Stanford defensive end Soloman Thomas, because taking a relatively inexperienced quarterback with the no. 2 pick is too risky. But of course, the 49ers didn’t tell anybody that. They let the Bears think they really wanted Trubisky, and that they were basically trading four picks for him.

The best part, though, is that the 49ers had the perfect tweet announcing their pick all ready to go. It features a photo of Soloman Thomas sacking Mitch Trubisky.

Oh man, that’s cold.

Troll achievement unlocked.
