Rugby Player Upset By Call Punches a Referee, Then Gets Jumped By Opposing Team (VIDEO)
A rugby player in France is on the cusp of being banned from the game for life after his anger got the best of him and he took a massive swing at a referee, which left the man unconscious.
The player, a center for Saint-Esteve in the French junior league, has not been identified — but a statement from team president Christian Cozza indicates the player had been suspended earlier this year in an undisclosed incident.
“This player had already been suspended four games earlier in the season, and I did not want him to play,”
Reports from France state the referee is OK but suffered jaw and cheekbone injuries due to the punch. President of the French rugby federation, Marc Palanques, hopes that the disciplinary board will take serious action:
“I hope that the National Disciplinary Commission, which will meet on Wednesday, will be uncompromising.”
The most disgraceful thing I have ever seen on a rugby field. You won’t be needing boots again for life that is mate. Life ban Booom! pic.twitter.com/xNQ0SEplwc
