The official report on Aaron Hernandez‘s prison cell suicide has been released, and in it, authorities say that the former Patriots tight end twice referred to the bible passage from John 3:16. Not only did he write the passage name on his forehead, but on his cell wall as well.

The passage, for those unfamiliar, reads:

‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Somewhat disturbingly, the reference was written in ink on his forehead, but in his own blood on the prison wall.

Further, in his cell was a Bible opened to that passage, highlighted or marked in blood as well.

Rumors that Hernandez was high on synthetic weed at the time of his suicide have been proven false—an autopsy reports no illegal substances were found in his system.
