Speaking to an Atlanta TV station, former NBA star and Inside the NBA host Shaquille O’Neal announced that he would run for sheriff in 2020. The only thing is, he was a little light on details as to where he would run.

He is a resident of both Florida and Georgia, so those are both good guesses, but otherwise, he simply spoke about his civic obligation.

He said:

“This is not about politics for me. It’s something that I always wanted to do. It’s just about bringing people closer together. You know, when I was coming up, people love and respected the police, the deputies. And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community that I serve.”

Doubling down on the “politics” claim, Shaq said that he’s only interested in this gig and would never run for an office position such as mayor.

Shaq’s done a surprising amount of work in law enforcement, having served as a reserve police officer in Los Angeles; Miami Beach; Tempe, Arizona; Golden Beach, Florida; and Doral, Florida.
