Less than a week after being found not guilty of the double-murder in Boston from a few years ago, the news came down that Aaron Hernandez had committed suicide in his prison cell on April 19th.

It was almost too crazy to even believe that he really took his life after enduring such a hectic trial. The public weren’t the only ones to feel that way as the fiancée of the former New England Patriots tight end believed the news of his death was all an elaborate hoax.

Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, who has a 4-year-old daughter with Hernandez, plans to appear on “Dr. Phil” next week in a two-part interview.

Jenkins-Hernandez discusses the moment that she heard about the suicide. “I thought it was a hoax,” she said, “that this was some cruel person playing a trick on me.”

“I felt like we were looking so bright,” said Jenkins-Hernandez. “We were going up a ladder to a positive direction.”

Hernandez was found guilty of the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd and was serving a life sentence without parole for that murder, but recently had that ruling dismissed since he killed himself while on appeal.
