Daniel Cormier is the UFC light heavyweight champion and the third-ranked pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the UFC. But despite his success, Cormier knows his legacy will always have an asterisk if he doesn’t beat Jon Jones.

Unfortunately, beating Jon Jones is proving more difficult than anyone would have imagined. And not just because Jones is an excellent fighter.

Cormier’s suffered his only professional MMA loss to Jones at UFC 182, a unanimous decision back in January of 2015. Three months later Jones was arrested for a hit-and-run in New Mexico, which got him stripped of his title and suspended for six months. Cormier then stepped in and took Jones’ place at UFC 187, winning the interim title.

Jones was reinstated in October 2015, and eventually Jones-Cormier II was scheduled for UFC 200 in July 2016. However, three days before that fight, Jones tested positive for PEDs, denying Cormier the chance to seal his UFC legacy.

Now there’s talk about Cormier and Jones finally getting into the octagon again at UFC 214 in Anaheim on July 29. And on Tuesday Cormier was putting all kinds of pressure on Jones to sign the contract and make it happen.
