Sacramento Kings Waive Anthony Tolliver After Wishing Him Happy Birthday
A player getting waived in the NBA is normally not huge news, but when it happens on your birthday, it’s pretty noteworthy.
On Thursday, the Sacramento Kings took to Twitter to tell their fans to wish power forward Anthony Tolliver a happy birthday.

A few hours later, the team had announced they released the 32-year-old.

While it seems like a cruel thing to do, it was just unfortunate timing as Tolliver had a June 1st trigger date to guarantee his contract for next season. The Kings took a $2m cap hit instead of $8m.
Tolliver signed a two-year, $16-million deal with the Kings last summer, averaging 7.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 44.2 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from distance.
