It was reported last week that the Turkish government issued an arrest warrant for Enes Kanter.  It was due to Kanter’s support on social media for Fethullah Gulen, who is alleged to have staged a failed coup against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last year.

The OKC Thunder center responded to the story via Twitter, writing in Turkey,“You cannot catch me. Hahaha. Don’t waste your energy. I am already going to come to [Turkey] to spit on all of your ugly, hate-filled faces.”

The six-year NBA veteran is safe in the United States and he is currently seeking citizenship in the country, however, he recently received some bad news from Turkey, tweeting Friday that his father, Mehmet Kanter, was arrested by the Turkish government.

Kanter has been estranged from his family since his father put out a statement disowning him from their family for his support of Pennsylvania-based cleric Fethullah Gule.
