Jonathan Jeanne is a 19-year-old French NBA prospect who’s been thought to go as high as the 23rd pick in the first round of this month’s draft.  But following a recent physical, it seems his dreams of playing in the NBA may be over before they start.

At the draft combine last month, an MRI revealed that the 7’2″ Jeanne suffers from Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue. Jeanne was found to have it in his spine, and it’s believed that this finding will keep him from being cleared for any further pre-draft workouts.

Though it’s possible he could eventually get permission from doctors to play, as Isaiah Austin did earlier this years after a 2014 diagnosis, it’s certainly a staggering setback for the young star, who, of course, remains optimistic that he can still continue an NBA career.
