Somebody Tried to Steal Steph Curry’s Championship Hat Right Off His Head (Video)
The Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 on Monday night to claim their second title in three years. And afterward, as has become the custom, the players all put on their 2017 NBA Championship hats.
Of course, fans who wanted Warriors championship hats of their own could have purchased them on the way out of Oracle Arena for the low, low price of $29.99. However, there was one fan in the building who didn’t feel like forking over the dough. So he or she tried to steal one right off the head of none other than two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry. And it was all caught on video.
It all went down as Curry was walking off the floor with the Larry O’Brien Trophy in his hands. As he passes into the tunnel, somebody reaches down and grabs his hat off his head.
The culprit was probably hoping that the theft would go unnoticed, or at the very least Curry wouldn’t be able to tell who swiped it amidst all the chaos. But unfortunately for them, that was not the case. Curry noticed right away that somebody had stolen his hat and demanded that they give it back.
Take a look:
So who was the thief? At first I thought it was this woman:
You can see her start to moved across the row of seats in Curry’s direction starting at the 3:40 mark, and it seems like she’s timing things up. However, a close inspection of the actual hat-snatching suggests it was not her.
So then I thought it was this guy:
He seems to be playing it totally cool, inching toward Curry while pretending to take a selfie. But he’s wearing a jacket with very distinctive cuffs, and, again, a close look at the moment the hat was snatched shows it is clearly not him.
So then I thought maybe it was this guy:
And, in truth, it really could be him. But I don’t think so. Because after viewing the clip for the 30th time, I noticed this guy’s face appear out of nowhere at the very last second, in a place a grown man’s face should not be:
I don’t know about you, but my money is definitely on that guy.
