Almost two weeks ago before LeBron James and the Cavs were eliminated in the NBA Finals, a report surfaced stating LeBron may consider signing with the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers during 2018 free agency.

The Clippers decided to increase their chances of that happening by signing Hall of Famer Jerry West, who is fresh off helping the Golden State Warriors win another NBA championship, as a consultant for the franchise.

Steve Ballmer hired West, in part, to improve the Clippers’ odds of signing LeBron James in 2018. West had been with the Warriors since 2011 and the team has won two NBA titles during that time.

The Clippers have yet to win an NBA championship or advance to the Western Conference Finals.
