Report: Cavs Continue to Pursue Paul George, Front-Runners For Melo
Prior to the draft, Cleveland was unable to land Paul George or Jimmy Butler, but that hasn’t stopped the team from their pursuit of the former.
According to ESPN, the Cavs are willing to part with Kevin Love in a three-team trade that would send Kevin Love to Denver. Butler was moved at the 11th hour to Minnesota, but Paul George remains at large, with insiders believing that the trade would send Love to Denver, George to Cleveland, and a package of picks and/pr prospects to the Pacers.
Meanwhile, Cleveland is also being discussed as the likely landing spot for Carmelo Anthony, a buddy of LeBron James, should his Knicks buy out his contract—which seems more and more likely as the team lingers in basketball limbo.
It’s unclear whether Melo would be an asset to Cleveland, as he doesn’t seem to be their top choice. But if he keeps LeBron happy enough to stick around, that’s plenty good enough to justify what is likely to be a huge price tag, even with a Knicks subsidy.
