Toronto’s Vilified Beer-Throwing Fan Finally Got Sentenced in Court
The Blue Jays fan who inexplicably chucked a can of beer at Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim during a 2016 AL Wild Card Game at the Rogers Centre has been sentenced for his misdeed, and it looks like he won’t be attending any baseball games for a little while.
Ken Pagan, the fan in question, got 200 hours of community service and is forced to stay away from baseball parks for a year. If he does, the incident will be stricken from his record.
Here’s a clip of the crime from last year’s AL Wild Card game:
He said at sentencing, “I have been a passionate baseball fan since getting hooked as an 8-year-old in the summer of 1983 and I am fully aware of the disgrace I brought to the game and the embarrassment this caused, particularly to the Toronto Blue Jays organization and the great fans of Toronto.”
He has lost his job in the interim and has been ridiculed locally, both of which were taken into account during the judge’s sentencing.
So…I guess we’ll see him back at it in a year or so, hopefully drinking water peacefully in the stands.
