Gordon Hayward Opts Out With Jazz, Books Free Agent Visits With Boston & Miami
Gordon Hayward might be the most in-demand free agent this year, after telling the Utah Jazz that he will be opting out of the final year of his contract—worth $16.7 million. In the eyes of many teams, he’s contractually more available than Paul George is, so now that the flag has dropped, expect to see some quick movement for Hayward.
He had until Thursday to make a decision on his player-option for next year with Utah. Per ESPN and will be visiting Miami, Boston, and the Jazz in the coming days to figure out where he’d like to be. Mark Stein broke the news yesterday via Twitter:
League sources: Gordon Hayward just officially notified Utah he’s declining his 2017-18 player option to become an unrestricted free agent

In all likelihood, he’ll be getting a four-year max deal from either new team, or a five-year max deal should he re-sign with the Jazz.
