Crowd Lines Up Over False Rumor That Zach Randolph Would Pay Their Electric Bills; Fights Break Out (VIDEO)
Former Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph is known to always give back to the community, so when a rumor started on social media that he would be paying the electric bills for random people in the city, the fans came out.
There was one problem, though: It was a false rumor.
“There were traffic jams and long lines out the door at gas stations in Memphis Saturday, July 8th — all over a rumor that blew up on social media.
According to WREG, the rumor heard around the city was NBA star Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzlies, was donating $1 million for MLGW customers’ bills.
But it wasn’t true.
WREG reports many folks didn’t believe it because the kiosks and their receipts were showing their accounts had been paid off. And just like the game of telephone, the rumor kept spreading.
Memphis police were dispatched to gas stations across the city after fights broke out over people’s spots in line.”
FYI: Rumor of a Zach Randolph donation for utility bills is not true.

People still continued to argue that they heard they were getting their bills paid for, however. That’s when Randolph took to Twitter and confirmed it was false.
The rumor about me donating 1 million dollars to MLGW is FALSE. However I will make my annual $20,000 contribution to MIFA/MLGW in the fall
