Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert Makes Dumb Joke About NBA Finals Loss, Gets ROASTED By Cavs Fans (TWEETS)
In an Ironic Twist, Paul George Says Kevin Durant Urged Him to Sign with OKC
As if this offseason wasn’t already bizarre enough, Paul George shared a story with Sports Illustrated that might just blow your mind. The big man revealed in an interview that it was none other than Kevin Durant who convinced George to pack up and head to OKC with one year left on his contract.
“KD was like, ‘That place will blow you away. He told me, ‘They can offer what other teams can’t in terms of the people and the preparation and the facility, down to the chefs and the meals.’ He was pretty high on them. He thought it was a first-class organization in every way.”
Ok. That’s pretty rich. I mean, I guess it’s nice that KD holds his former team in such high regard, but if he did…why didn’t he stick around?
Nonetheless, George is remaining coy about his plans after 2018, hinting that he’d be willing to stick around OKC under the best circumstances, but it sounds like the Lakers are still on his mind.
“I want to be in a good system, a good team. I want a shot to win it,” he said. “I’m not a stats guy. I’m playing this game to win and build a legacy of winning. I’ve yet to do that. I’m searching for it. If we get a killer season in Oklahoma, we make the conference finals or upset the Warriors or do something crazy, I’d be dumb to want to leave that.”
