I don’t think anybody has ever seen Bill Belichick this happy in a photo before.

The New England Patriots head coach was recently photographed wearing a sleeveless shirt that reads “Life is great,” with a cartoon solider smiling as his dog attacks an armed man wearing a turban.

But wait…There’s a story behind the shirt.

“While some could deem the shirt as offensive, the Boston Herald reports the top was made by a former Navy SEAL, Jim Amann. Amann, who had been deployed in Iraq alongside a K9, sells the shirts online at

Amann told the Boston Herald the shirt “tells a cartoon story of a deployment in Afghanistan where SEAL operators are chasing bad guys.” On the site, Amann said the shirt is meant to celebrate the end of Osama Bin Laden.

The former Navy SEAL couldn’t believe Belichick had posed for a picture wearing the shirt.

“I’m surprised,” Amann said. “I’m a big fan of his. I respect him as a leader.”
