REPORT: Alabama Crimson Tide Assistant Coach Mike Locksley’s Son Shot and Killed
Despite winning their opening game of the season, it was a rough weekend for the Alabama Crimson Tide in man different ways.
The national college powerhouse lost two key defensive players in their win over the Florida State Seminoles. Then, it was learned that Meiko Locksley, son of Alabama Crimson Tide Assistant Coach Mike Locksley, was shot in Maryland on Sunday night and ultimately lost his life the very next day.
“Meiko Locksley was shot around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday and died overnight at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to multiple reports.
Police don’t have any suspects and aren’t aware of any potential motives at this time, according to reports.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike, (his wife) Ms. Kia and the entire Locksley family over this tragedy,” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “We’ll do everything we can to support Mike and his family in this time of tragedy.”
Mike Locksley is in his second year at Alabama after previously serving as the offensive coordinator and an interim head coach at Maryland.
