NFL Legend Franco Harris Says Players In His Day Would Have ‘Dealt With’ Kaepernick Disrespecting Anthem (AUDIO)
NFL Hall of Famer Franco Harris recently had a sit-down interview with Mediaite and expressed his displeasure with guys like Colin Kaepernick and whoever else participates in national anthem protests.
The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback still finds himself job-less after a controversy-filled 2016 season—when he kneeled or raised a fist during the playing of every national anthem. Franco made it real clear that if he had tried these same things during his time in the league, he would’ve been ‘dealt with’.
“If someone has a certain stance that they want to take, that’s fine,” Harris said. “When he puts on that suit, when he steps out on that field, now it’s more than just him. It’s his teammates, it’s the NFL, and it’s the fans.”
“We had two of the meanest guys in football, who I think would’ve dealt with it that way, and that would’ve been Joe Greene and Jack Lambert,” Harris said.
Harris acknowledged that America has some social issues that they need to deal with, but when you put on that uniform, your only focus should be on the game. Leave all of that outside noise on the outside.
Another NFL legend, Jim Brown, also expressed his displeasure with Kaepernick, stating he supports what he’s fighting for, but cannot stand behind disrespecting the American flag and the national anthem.
