Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw have the distinction of being the highest-paid players in football and baseball, respectively. They also went to high school together at Highland Park High School in Dallas.

In a nod to their roots and their enduring friendship, Matt Stafford name-checked Kershaw at the line of scrimmage as an audible of sorts in his team’s win against the Giants on Monday night.

Yes, Jon Gruden. He DID say “Kershaw.”

It’s not clear what exactly the phrase “Kershaw” activates, but whatever it is, in the aggregate with Stafford’s other efforts, it seemed to work just fine in getting the Lions a “W” against a floundering Giants squad.
