I don’t know if Lane Kiffin‘s Twitter account was hacked, of if this dude just doesn’t have any f#%&s left to give, but on Wednesday somebody using Kiffin’s certified Twitter account basically told Lamar Jackson to leave the Louisville Cardinals and join the Florida Atlantic University Owls.

At 8:45 A.M. Kiffin responded to one of Jackson’s tweets with “Come to the #faU.” Then, at 9:38 A.M., he responded to one of Jackson’s tweets about his mom with “Come home for her. #thefaU.”

Jackson, a junior who grew up just outside Boca Raton, Florida, where FAU is located, won the Heisman Trophy as college football’s top player in 2016, and he is widely expected to be a top pick in the 2018 NFL draft. It’s obvious why Kiffin would want him on his team, and Louisville athletics is currently in shambles thanks to Rick Pitino and the basketball program. If for some reason Jackson did want to play one more year in college, why not transfer to FAU and put up video game numbers against Conference USA defenses?

That said, there’s just one little problem here. And that problem is this: telling a player on another team to leave his program and come to yours has got to be against NCAA rules. Which means Lane Kiffin could be in serious trouble here.

That may be why Kiffin deleted those tweets. Unfortunately, as most of us know, tweets never really get deleted.

The only thing working in Kiffin’s favor? He tweets “Come to the #faU” all the time at just about anybody and anything, even when it’s clear the target is not a potential recruit.

Maybe Kiffin can convince the NCAA that he absentmindedly tweeted his usual spiel about FAU at Jackson without thinking about what he was really saying, then deleted the tweets when he realized what he had done.

Maybe the NCAA will buy it, too.
